SCRATCBOARD ART: Scratchboard art consists of three
layers; a firm foundation, a layer of white clay coating the surface of the foundation, and a layer of black ink covering
the white clay. As a base or foundation, a factory prepared masonite board designed specifically for scratchboard art.
Images are created by “scratching”with sharp etching tools such as knives, pins or even fiber glass brushes.
Seymour’s scratchboard art reflects both the typical black and white format as as well the use of colored india ink
to enhance particular works. The completed work is treated with a fixative that protects the surface and
allows the etching to be framed without glass.

TEMPERA:Egg tempera painting is one
of the oldest forms of fine art. It involves a process of mixing pigment with water and egg yolk and is considered among
the most difficult of painting mediums with which to work. This art medium yields a uniquely brilliant, luminous and crisp
painting that when dry is insoluble and more permanent than oils. CASEIN PAINTINGS:Casein is a milk protein mixed with pigment
and when dry is insoluble and more permanent that oils, drying to a velvety matte finish.

polymer base. However, this innovative medium is not acrylic, requiring heat setting for drying, and when dry
it is lightfast and permanent.
